Bandai Namco’s Pac-Man 256 coming to the PC in June

Bandai Namco has announced that it is bringing its Pac-man 256 game to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4  and the PC (via Steam) on the 21st June.

Pac-man 256 is based on the famous 256th level glitch, otherwise known as the "split-screen level" or a "kill screen", where when you make it to map 256, the right side of the screen turns into a jumbled mess of numbers and letters and the left side is normal. It is normally impossible to beat, but we assume Bandai Namco's new version will be a  bit more rewarding.

The game features the usual classic Pac-Man gameplay in which Pac-Man eats his way around a board while being pursued by the ghosts Pinky, Blinky, Inky, and Clyde, but with additional power-ups and features added. The game will also include new unlocked items, social media sharing ability, and the new local co-op mode. The co-op multiplayer will allow up to four players to join the game, but since it's 'local,' it won't require internet connection.

"We wanted everyone to enjoy Pac-Man 256, so it was a logical decision to make it available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The brand new local multiplayer mode, exclusive to the console and pc version, makes it even more accessible: get ready for maximum fun playing up to 4 players at the same time!" said Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe S.A.S Project Owner, Benjamin Prénom.

Pac-Man 256 is developed by Crossy Road studio Hipster Whale and will cost $5.59, or €4.99 on all platforms.
