The WC reports that Bank of America has enabled NFC payments in Microsoft's new Wallet app in the latest Insider build of Windows 10 Mobile.
Editor Daniel Rubino was able to register his Bank of America card and complete a payment using his Lumia 950. The process drew the cards from his Microsoft account and involved the bank sending him a verification SMS and confirmation email, showing that the process was not bypassing bank authorization processes. It also did not work with his business and credit card.
He was able to successfully test the app by purchasing a burger at McDonald, suggesting its should work anywhere where Apple Pay and Android Pay is already enabled.
In our testing of the app we were not able to enter this feature of the app due to not being in the USA, suggesting the feature will be USA only initially.
Bank of America has recently released a Universal Windows app, suggesting a new stage of cooperations between the two companies.
Hopefully Microsoft will be able to piggyback on the work other companies have already done to enable NFC payments and will not encounter too many barriers to enabling the service elsewhere.
