Evernote to launch its new app for Windows 10 PCs on August 2

evernote

Recently, we reported that Evernote is working on a new app for Windows 10. Now, the company has announced that it will be launching the new Evernote app on Windows 10. This means the Evernote Touch will no longer be available for users on Windows 10 Anniversary Update. The company is discontinuing Evernote Touch in favor of the new Evernote app, which is based on Centennial. Therefore, the new Evernote app will not be available on Phones, and it will only work on PCs. The experience on the new Evernote app should be very similar to the Evernote Desktop app as the company is using Centennial to bring the Win32 app to the Windows Store. Evernote states:

However, keep in mind that if you are on an older version of Windows 10 or Windows 8/8.1, you should still be able to download Evernote Touch. Evernote states:

We are focusing on our commitment to invest in new features and functionality in our core apps. Evernote Touch was designed as a companion app to Evernote for Windows, and is not meant to be a full-featured version of Evernote. Evernote for Windows offers an extensive set of capabilities in addition to what Evernote Touch offers, including mouse and keyboard support. If you have the Windows 10 Anniversary Update with automatic updates turned on in the Windows Store, you don't need to take any action. Evernote Touch will automatically update to the latest version of Evernote for Windows. Otherwise, it will be updated the next time you update Evernote Touch.

It is worth noting that the Windows 10 Anniversary Update also comes out on August 2, which means you will have to install the Anniversary Update first before trying to install the new Evernote app. We will let you know when the app is available on the Windows Store, until then, let us know if you are looking forward to it in the comment section below.
