Following the launch of Windows 10 S, Acer and HP today announced their new laptops powered by the new version of Windows 10. Acer is introducing the new TravelMate Spin B1, which was originally introduced earlier this year with Windows 10 Pro. HP, oon the otehr hand, is launching the ProBook x360 Education Edition which also shipped with full Windows 10 in the past.
First, let's talk about the TravelMate Spin B1 from Acer. The device has an 11.6-inch touchscreen, and it's designed with durability features to ensure maximum uptime and help reduce maintenance. They include a shock-absorbent middle rubber frame that can handle the rough-and-tumble of the classroom, while a pressure-resistant screen with increased strength can withstand frontal impact of up to 60Kgf. It also sports a spill-resistant keyboard that provides protection against spills of up to 330ml (11 fluid ounces) of water. A gutter system under the keyboard and touchpad drains water so that it's routed away from internal components and out the bottom of the chassis. The notebook also has a Kensington lock, so that it can be secured to a wireless cart or lab.
The TravelMate Spin B1 sports up to 13 hours of battery life, allowing students to learn without interruption, inside and outside the classroom. In terms of the other specs, the Acer laptop includes an Intel Celeron processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
HP's ProBook x360 Education Edition, on the other hand, is a rugged laptop that usually sells for $329. But with Windows 10 S, the device costs $299. In terms of specs, you get an 11.-6 inch display, an Intel Celeron Processor, 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage.
Acer's TravelMate Spin B1 with Windows 10 S makes a lot more sense than HP's laptop. That's because the TravelMate Spin B1 usually sells for $399, but with Windows 10 S, you can get it for $100 less. HP's device, on the other hand, costs $329 with full Windows 10 and $299 for Windows 10 S. If you want to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro on the device, you will have to pay $49 extra — so it's probably a better idea to get the Windows 10 Pro variant instead.
