Halo 6 should come to the PC through Play Anywhere

Microsoft has been rather steadfast about Halo being a console title, but it seems that is about to change with Microsoft's new Play Anywhere feature, which would allow users to buy a game on the PC or Xbox One and play them on either platform, with game states and achievements being saved in the cloud available for either platform.

TrueAchievements.com notes that Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi recently wrote a blog post about Microsoft's Anniversary Update for Windows 10 in which he insists that Play Anywhere will be available for all new Microsoft Studios games. He said:

With the Xbox Play Anywhere program, you can buy a game once and play on your Windows 10 PC and Xbox One with shared progress, shared game saves and shared achievements. Every new title published from Microsoft Studios will support Xbox Play Anywhere and will be easily accessible in the Windows Store.

The feature should introduce a whole new range of console games such as Gears of War to a new PC audience. The current set of announced Play Anywhere titles include:

Microsoft's initiative should pose an increasing challenge to game distributors such as Steam with Microsoft's Windows Store installed base already much larger than their network and able to offer cross-platform experiences which they just can not match.
