Microsoft hackathon project helps refugees locate missing loved ones

Earlier today, we reported that Microsoft kicked off its annual hackathon project on Monday. Microsoft said that there are more than 3,200 registered Hackathon projects, with employees hacking everything from bots to Microsoft HoloLens, as well as focusing on cognitive services, accessibility, inclusive design and more.

Microsoft today highlighted a hackathon project which helps in reuniting refugees with their loved ones.

Microsoft employees came together across continents, time zones, and cultures to address the refugee crisis through Microsoft cloud intelligence. Family Finder app uses Microsoft cloud to help refugees locate missing loved ones. The idea began with the story of a boy who fled Afghanistan, was separated from his mother and two sisters and didn't have any way to find them.
