Giphy integration on Slack is pretty awesome. If you haven't used Slack in the past, here's how the Giphy integration works: users can simply use the /giphy command and send GIFs in a conversation on Slack instantly. It's a pretty neat feature, but it did create some awkward situations at times. This was because Giphy sent a GIF without letting you choose which GIF you want to send. Additionally, Giphy doesn't always send GIFs based on the search query which resulted in it sending some irrelevant GIFs.
Thankfully, that's finally changing.
Slack rolled out a new update for the Giphy integration last night, adding the ability to preview a GIF before sharing it in a conversation. With the new update, you can simply run the /giphy command on Slack and Giphy will let you either send the first GIF, Shuffle (to get another GIF) or Cancel. Unfortunately, Giphy doesn't give you a range of options to choose a GIF from — it would be much better if the company showed a grid of 5-10 GIFs and users could choose any of the GIFs from there.
It is worth noting that this feature isn't enabled by default — to enable it, you'll have to head over to the Giphy settings under the Application settings in your team's settings. If you are interested, you can get Slack's Windows app from here.
