The Windows Store isn't really seen as a go-to place for serious PC gaming, but Microsoft's been working with third parties to change that. There's been releases of various Telltale games, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and now it looks like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is also on its way.
Announced in a post on the Japanese only website Dengeki Online, all of the game's platforms were confirmed. There's the usual – Steam, Xbox One, PS4, etc – but the Windows Store is also listed. There's also some details on what features the game will support on each platform. While HDR support for the Xbox One version has been confirmed for quite some time now, it appears to be coming to both PC versions (Steam and Windows Store) of the game, too.
Additionally, the PC versions will also support resolutions up to 4K, letting you get the most out of your monitor while you're getting spooked. When it comes to features exclusive to the Windows Store version, save data will be synced between both the PC and Xbox One versions of the game, even if it doesn't look like we'll see Resident Evil 7 join the Xbox Play Anywhere program any time soon. When Jez Corden from Windows Central contacted Capcom Europe's PR, they simply restated the existence of the syncing feature and said that there's no further information available at the time.
When it comes to third party games on the Windows Store, even timed exclusives like Dead Rising 4 don't seem to be joining in on Play Anywhere. It's a shame, and hopefully more companies will end up realizing just how much cross-buy can help out consumers.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be out January 24th, 2016. You can pre-order it on Amazon here.
