Not just for Surface Laptop: Windows 10 S also coming for Surface Pro, Surface Book

Microsoft today introduced a new Surface device: the Surface Pro. Microsoft's latest Surface comes with Windows 10 Pro, which means the device could be slightly cheaper if it packed Windows 10 S instead. Windows 10 S, for those unfamiliar, is Microsoft's new version of Windows 10 S that only lets users download apps from the Windows Store — and it powers Microsoft's recently introduced Surface Laptop.

Now, as it turns out, Microsoft will soon sell a Windows 10 S variant of the Surface Pro. Along with the Surface Pro, users will also be able to get a Windows 10 S variant of the Surface Book. Pricing and availability details aren't available yet, but I assume the Windows 10 S variants of the devices will only cost around $100 less than the full Windows 10 variants. And once you get the Windows 10 S variant of the Surface Pro or Surface Book, you can pay $49 to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro if you want.

Microsoft is also going to start selling a Windows 10 Pro variant of the Surface Laptop, but that will likely arrive later. Surface Laptop owners can already get a free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro until the end of this year, so it wouldn't make much sense to launch a Windows 10 Pro variant of the device that will likely be more expensive this year.

Once again, there aren't any details regarding the price or availability of these variants, so don't get your hopes up yet.
