Microsoft introduced a brand new Surface device, the Surface Laptop at its education-focused event in New York City today. Unlike the previous Surface devices, the latest one comes in 4 different colors: Platinum, Cobalt Blue, Graphite Gold, and Burgundy. All of the colors of the Surface Laptop look absolutely beautiful, and there's no doubt in that. Unfortunately, though, Microsoft won't be offering the different colors for all of the variants of the Surface Laptop. Instead, they will only be available for the Intel Core i5 variant with 8GB RAM. Additionally, the different colors are only going to be available to users in the United States.
That is, indeed, a bit disappointing to see as Microsoft isn't making the different colors for the other variants of the Surface Laptop. In fact, the four different colors are also not available for the most powerful variant of the device that comes with 512GB of storage, 16GB of RAM and the Intel Core i7.
"Platinum is the Surface core, our heritage color. Anodization gives it new depths and life. It continues to make a timeless and bright statement," said Microsoft's Panos Panay. It isn't clear how much the Core i5/8GB RAM variant will cost at the moment, but we will update this article once the pricing details for all of the variants are available. In the meantime, here are the 4 different Surface Laptop variants that Microsoft will be selling:
- Intel Core i5, 128GB SSD 4GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 620, Available in Platinum for $999
- Intel Core i5, 256GB SSD 8GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 620, Available in Platinum, Cobalt Blue, Graphite Gold, and Burgundy
- Intel Core i7, 256GB SSD 8GB RAM, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640, Available in Platinum
- Intel Core i7, 512GB SSD 16GB RAM, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640, Available in Platinum
