Alongside its new Surface Pro, Microsoft released new Surface Pro type covers as tradition demands. Like their predecessors, they'll work with both the Surface Pro 3 and the Surface Pro 4 due to sharing the same connectors and a desire to maintain backwards compatibility.
However, with the new Surface Type Covers, Microsoft is now pushing for its new Alcantara Type Cover which previously adorned premium type covers to be the standard bearer for the Surface devices.
The fabric keyboards, which have been somewhat controversial due to their being made of fabric as opposed to a more durable material like metal or even plastic. Reviews indicate a generally pleasant experience, with Microsoft's reps noting that negative experiences with the fabric are out of the ordinary. Microsoft is making a big bet putting Alcantara on all its products, it'll be interesting to see how that pays off with consumers and retailers in the long run.
The colours have also been changed to ensure synergy, with the bright colours of the Surface Pro 4 being replaced with the more solemn burgundy, teal, gray, and gold colours spotted in the Surface Laptop,
Microsoft's Surface Pro Type Covers will be available at release, and they'll set you back about $150 if previous trends hold .
