Unknown studio working on Xbox One VR game

According to Ars Technica, a studio is currently working on a virtual reality game for the Xbox One. The game is currently planned to release in 2017, and will be shown off at E3. Ars says it'll be worked on by a "well known European studio" and will be in the universe of an "established, long running franchise".

There's plenty to guess at with that information, but it doesn't seem like it's going to be part of a Microsoft franchise.

The game is also being planned for release on the PC and PS4, and while it seems likely the E3 demonstration will be on one of those platforms, the PR representative was clear that an Xbox One version was also being planned. The game's working title contains the word "VR," strongly suggesting this isn't merely a VR-compatible game that happens to have a more traditional Xbox One version.

There's been rumors flying around lately about Microsoft introducing an Xbox capable of VR, and this definitely gives them some more credibility. It's currently unknown if Microsoft will go the same route as Sony and introduce a brand new Xbox VR headset, or simply partner up with either HTC or Oculus.

We'll find out just what this game is (and who it's developed by) when it's unveiled at E3 next month. Until then, we've just got three things to go by. It's developed by a well known European studio, it's in the universe of a long running franchise, and other entries in this universe are likely multi-platform.

What do you think the game will be? What franchise do you think it will be a part of? Let us know in the comments below!
