Microsoft recently rolled out a couple of new updates for the stock apps in Windows 10 to the Slow Ring in the Windows Insider program. These updates are yet to be available for users on the Fast Ring, and we finally have an explanation of why that's the case. As it turns out, Microsoft is temporarily pausing updates for its stock Windows 10 apps for users in the Fast Ring. This is only a short-term change, and the reason Microsoft is doing this is to get ready for the Creators Update's public rollout.

Microsoft needs to make sure that the stock apps that will get shipped with the upcoming Windows 10 Creators Update work as expected out of the box. And once users upgrade to the Creators Update, they will be able to get new updates for apps which will add new features — and therefore, they won't be attached to a whole OS upgrade:

Microsoft's Brandon LeBlanc said on Twitter that the Windows Insider team plans to get things back to normal "soon", so you won't have to wait much longer for the latest app updates to arrive on your devices that are enrolled into the Windows Insider program's Fast Ring.
