Bulletstorm remaster and Dark Souls III: The Ringed City get launch trailers highlighting skill-based gameplay

Two incredibly popular skill-based games got launch trailers today. Bulletstorm and Dark Souls III: The Ringed City are coming to Xbox One and PC in the coming weeks and the developers shared why it's necessary to perfect your approach in each title.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition

To prepare the world for the launch of Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, developer People Can Fly and publisher Gearbox Publishing shared the game's official launch trailer today ahead of its April 7 release on Xbox One and PC. The trailer offers a high-octane glimpse at what players can expect from the remastered title. The video highlights Bulletstorm's skill-based gameplay which awards you for using the tools at your disposal, like the grappling hook, to kill with style. You can treat the game as a standard first-person shooter but immersing yourself in its over-the-top mechanics will make you appreciate it even more.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition features updated high-resolution textures, increased polygon counts, sterling audio and smoother frame rates. This definitive version of the action-packed, critically-acclaimed game comes with all of its add-ons along with a few surprises. For example, players will get the chance to play Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition as the iconic Duke Nukem featuring the legendary Jon St. John as the voice of character!

Skill-based games are becoming increasingly popular nowadays. The fact that titles like Bloodborne, Dark Souls III and Nioh sell in the millions is proof of that. Bulletstorm was definitely ahead of its time when it launched because it tried to incorporate a new mechanic into the first-person genre. People were expecting it to be a success along the lines of Gears of War but unfortunately it wasn't. Maybe this remaster will appeal to even more gamers so the game can morph into a franchise.

Dark Souls III: The Ringed City

Speaking of skill-based games, the final Dark Souls III expansion titled The Ringed City will hit Xbox One and PC on Tuesday, March 28. The Ringed City takes place in a new environment and adds everything from stunning boss fights to other ferocious creatures. From Software stated that Dark Souls III is the last game in the franchise while they transition over to other genres. Games like Bloodborne, Lords of the Fallen and Nioh owe their success to Dark Souls because it made the genre incredibly popular.

In order to succeed in Dark Souls III: The Ringed City, it seems like gamers must master incredibly heavy weapons. Practice makes perfect and in this game you'll need a lot of it. You can also keep on grinding smaller enemies to level up so it's not a strict test of your ability to perfectly parry each time.

Both Bulletstorm and Dark Souls III: The Ringed City offer incredible gameplay so if you're an Xbox One owner, you should definitely check them out. While skill-based games may seem daunting, anyone can play them with a bit of practice. The tutorials do a great job of teaching you. Once you master the mechanics though, the sense of satisfaction is simply immense.
