Elements of Project NEON shows up early in Windows 10 Redstone 3

Microsoft today released a new Windows 10 Insider Preview build to Windows Insiders. The build includes My People, a new experience in Windows 10 that was expected to arrive with the recently released Creators Update. Nevertheless, it's now set to come with Windows 10 "Redstone 3" update later this year. Along with My People, the Redstone 3 update is also expected to introduce an improved design for Windows 10. As we exclusively reported earlier this year, Microsoft is calling the new design "Project NEON" and we'll get a much closer look at the new design for Windows 10 next month at Build 2017.

In the latest build of Windows 10 Redstone 3, Microsoft actually added an element of Project NEON to Windows 10. The new My People experience and People app now have a new animation for list elements when you hover over them. The effect is internally called the "Reveal experience" and it's a pretty neat little animation:

This is obviously an early version of the new effect, and to be honest, it's not even that big of a deal. Considering the fact that Microsoft has much bigger plans for Project NEON, this is just a very small part of that.

In case you are wondering, here's how the Reveal experience looks in internal concepts for Project NEON:

As I have been saying for a while now, Project NEON will definitely be the main big focus of Build 2017 and Windows 10 Redstone 3, unless Microsoft has something bigger planned for Redstone 3. We'll get all the details at Build 2017, which we'll be covering live from Seattle. As per usual, stay tuned to MSPU for the latest on Windows 10, Redstone 3, Project NEON, and all things Microsoft!
