ID@Xbox is Microsoft's new self-publishing program which has been heralded as the most helpful and easy-to-publish-for platform out there. However, what about the number of developers making Xbox One and Windows 10 games? The number of games shipped? Well, today we got answers to many of these questions.
As you know, over 1,000 developers are actively making Xbox One and Windows 10 games, and we'll see a lot of these titles in the coming months and years. Today, Microsoft shipped its 500th ID@Xbox title and posted a lot of information about this milestone. Developers from over 50 countries have made games for Xbox One and Windows 10 so far! This is a remarkable achievement and this number will continue to grow with the launch of Project Scorpio which has garnered tremendous excitement from game developers around the world, especially Japan. A few days ago the company also said that gamers had spent 1 billion hours playing ID@Xbox titles on Xbox One and Windows 10.
During the Xbox 360 era, Microsoft imposed heavy fees and restrictions on game developers due to their stringent rules. Luckily, that changed after the Xbox One reveal and the company perfected their approach by launching ID@Xbox. Since then Microsoft has tweaked the platform to be as helpful as possible to developers. Hopefully the company will continue to focus on ID@Xbox as much as their AAA endeavors for years to come.
