Microsoft released a new Cumulative Update for Windows 10 PCs recently with a number of fixes and improvements for the OS. The update, KB3194496 brings the OS version number up to 14393.222 and it was released to all Windows 10 users running the Anniversary Update. The update was also available to Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring earlier this week.
Now, if you are unable to install the update on your Windows 10 PC — you are not the only one. Several users have reported issues while installing the update on their Windows 10 PC, and Microsoft has also confirmed the issue. In a Microsoft Answers thread, a Microsoft employee stated:
Teams have dug into this issue and do believe the cause has been identified. Looks like this will only be hitting a subset of Insiders. The correct team is developing a fix/workaround and once we have the full details, we'll be posting that information. For your affected machines, there's no need to keep attempting the install. It'll keep failing.
In the mean time, hold tight! We're all over this and will keep sharing information along the way.
As mentioned above, if you try to run the installation again, you still won't be able to install the update. Microsoft states the company is working on a fix, so it should be available fairly soon for all users. We'll make sure to let you know once the issue is fixed — in the meantime, let us know if you're also facing the same issue in the comment section below.
