With the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Microsoft added a number of new features to Windows 10's personal assistant, Cortana. The company is working on adding more features to Cortana for the upcoming update for Windows 10. One of the new features which Cortana will get in the near-future could possibly be the ability to check your internet's speed. Zach Johnson, the Principal Software Development Lead at the Xbox One Shell Speech team in Microsoft recently tweeted:
As the above tweet suggests, users will soon be able to say "Hey Cortana, test my internet speed" and the personal assistant will give them their internet speed details. Another feature coming to Cortana would be the ability to check for updates using your voice, but Johnson says it is in the backlog at the moment:
Keep in mind that these two voice commands may only be available for Xbox One which would make sense as it is quite hard to check the internet speed on an Xbox. But considering the fact that Xbox is running Windows 10, it wouldn't be surprising to see if these commands arrive on Windows 10 PCs and Mobile as well.
