Net Market Share today released its data for OS and browser market share. The latest data does not have anything surprising as per usual, as the growth of Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge has slowed down over the past several months. However, both Windows 10 Microsoft Edge are still experiencing growth — but they just aren't anything big.
Windows 10, for example, now claims 25.36% of the market — up from February's 25.19%. This is specifically interesting because Windows 10 actually experienced a slight decline in its market share in February, but the OS' market share is growing once again in March. In addition to Windows 10, Microsoft's Windows 7 is still experiencing growth — the OS now claims nearly 50% of the desktop OS market. According to the report from Net Market Share, Windows 7 now claims 49.42% of the market — up from February's 48.41%.
Windows 10's default browser, Microsoft Edge also experienced a small bump in its market share. The browser now claims a total of 5.61% of the market, with EdgeHTML 14 claiming 4.84%, EdgeHTML 13 claiming 0.59% and EdgeHTML 12 claiming 0.18% of the market. For comparison, the browser claimed 5.54% market share where EdgeHTML 14 claimed 4.84%, EdgeHTML 13 claimed 0.53% and EdgeHTML 12 claimed 0.17% of the market.
The latest version of Microsoft Edge interestingly didn't experience a growth last month. Instead, Microsoft Edge 13 (aka EdgeHTML 13) and Edge 12 experience slight bumps. Microsoft is delivering EdgeHTML 15 with the upcoming Windows 10 Creators Update in April, so we should get some data for that soon, too.
As per usual, you can find the full report here.
