Another Xbox One build is rolling out to Alpha Insiders tonight and it includes a number of fixes. However, the most important part of the patch notes has to be the fact that all Alpha ring Insiders will get custom gamerpics next week. Last week Microsoft said it would launch around April 5, but now it looks like Alpha testers will have to wait a little longer. The patch notes for the latest update and known issues are as follows:
Preview ALPHA Ring – new build available at 6.00pm PDT today.
Welcome to 1704 on Xbox One!
An ETA on Custom gamerpics being turned on for the Alpha ring is now next week as we work through some fine tuning.
We have just posted this to the Xbox Forums (restricted access via Xbox Insider membership) and I wanted to share here.
NOTE: Preview Alpha consoles in certain locales (JA-JP, ZH-HK, ZH-TW, JA, ZH-SG, ZH-HAN) which were excluded from receiving the last Preview Alpha update (1704.170328-2321), will receive this update (the underlying issue has been resolved).
HOW TO GET IT
• If your console is in Instant-On mode and you have been selected to receive the update, it will download and install the update and reboot to standby.
• NOTE: Once the update is available to you, you can manually begin the update by launching the Guide and navigating to All Settings > System > Updates.
• If you have been selected to receive the update and your console hasn't downloaded and installed the update by 1:00 AM PDT 4/5/2017, you will be prompted to do so at that time.
DETAILS
OS version released: rs2_release_xbox_1704.170330-1900
Available: 6:00PM PDT 4/3 (1:00AM GMT 4/4)
FIXES:
• Language Settings
Fixed an issue which could cause Home to crash when the console is configured to certain locales (JA-JP, ZH-HK, ZH-TW, JA, ZH-SG, ZH-HAN).
KNOWN ISSUES:
• Settings – Display & sound
The Audio output page is under construction and some of the new settings are not yet functional. New support is planned for Dolby Atmos for home theater, Dolby Atmos for headphones, and more in upcoming builds. An announcement will be made when these new features are ready to try out; enabling these settings now will have no effect.
• Wireless Display
The Wireless Display app fails to launch and immediately crashes to Home.
Hopefully Microsoft can tweak custom gamerpics and start enabling them for all Alpha Insiders soon. It's a feature everyone has been patiently waiting for for years. While this update didn't add any features, it's encouraging to see that bug fixes are occurring at an impressive pace.
