Cult classic Outcast is getting remastered for Xbox One and PC

Appeal Studios and Bigben Interactive unveiled the first trailer for Outcast: Second Contact today. While the younger generation may have heard of Game of Thrones or Mario, many probably don't know about Outcast. Outcast is a legendary game which released in 1999. It's regarded as the first 3D open world in the history of video games and a true pioneer in the action-adventure genre. It garnered tremendous critical acclaim when it came out all those years ago and has been revamped a few times since then through sequels and poor upgrades. Outcast: Second Contact aims to recreate the magic of the original for the next-generation of consoles. The game is scheduled to release this fall on Xbox One and PC.

Outcast: Second Contact revolves around the journey to an alien world. In the near future, humanity has discovered it is not alone in the universe, or rather universes. Alas, the first contact with intelligent beings turns disastrous when a probe sent by the United States government is destroyed by the natives of a world called Adelpha. The incident creates an energy cataclysm which threatens to destroy Earth. You are Cutter Slade, a former elite soldier sent on a mission to Adelpha to prevent this catastrophe. However, instead of quickly resolving the issue, you get caught up in liberating an enslaved group in this uncharted realm.

The debut trailer gives a quick overview into the wild landscapes of the planet Adelpha, a bewitching world as beautiful as it is dangerous, and the cradle of an advanced alien civilization. All of your choices have consequences on the balance of the world. Welcomed by natives as the Ulukai, a messiah of an ancient prophecy, you confront the formidable soldiers of a bloodthirsty tyrant by using a devastating arsenal of evolving weapons. To save Earth, you must save Adelpha as the destiny of both worlds is in your hands!
