Destiny 2 requires at least 68 GB of space at launch

It appears that Destiny 2 will be a much more expansive experience even at launch according to information provided by Bungie about the space requirements. FPSPoint+ managed to get their hands on the disclaimers about the beta and the full game. Bungie details the space requirements by saying "Minimum 68 GB available hard drive storage space required as of September 2017. Storage requirements to increase." Considering that games like Halo 5: Guardians now stand at almost 100 GB, these figures aren't surprising at all.

Destiny 2 is expected to support Project Scorpio so this may be the reason why the file size is 68 GB at launch. The game is also coming out on PC so it should already have 4K assets. Hopefully Bungie or Microsoft will make a formal announcement about Project Scorpio and Destiny 2 during the console's reveal. Aaron Greenberg casually hinted that the game would look stunning on Project Scorpio on Twitter but didn't clarify if this was his wish or confirmation.

You should note that Destiny 2 will increase in size after release. The original game started at around 20 GB on Xbox One but now stands at around 50 GB. It's safe to assume that this trend will continue as Destiny 2 receives its expansions and other events. Hopefully the content will be more engaging in terms of storytelling this time around and the loot system fair. The game launches on September 8 so we'll find out in a few months.
