Here’s how to fix the widespread Xbox One black screen glitch

Update: There appears to be one way to fix it. You have to go to Network in Settings and take your console offline. After that you have to restart your device and it should be fixed. In order to go online again, just go to Network in Settings and select the Go Online option.

Xbox One experiencing widespread Home fading-to-black glitch

Here's one for the history books. It appears that all Xbox One consoles are currently experiencing a strange glitch where the Home screen fades to black a second after it loads. We've encountered the same problem on a standard Xbox One and an Xbox One S (not part of the Xbox Insider Program), and there are numerous reports on social media and Reddit which state the same. It appears that this issue is related to the planned maintenance Microsoft was supposed to do early Thursday morning but the company still hasn't shared any information.

While this doesn't render the console inoperable, it's still a significant annoyance. Right now, the only way to counter it is to just use the Guide to open programs and games. Pressing the Xbox Controller Home button takes you to the Guide which let's you access all the menus and other features. We'll update you as soon as we know more or there is a solution. Until then, just use the Guide to navigate the Xbox One interface. Hopefully Microsoft will realize that there's a significant problem going on—which is related to Xbox Live most likely—and fix it.
