Resident Evil 7 has received admirable post-launch support and the Banned Footage Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 add-ons were stellar experiences. However, what about the free content Capcom promised those who purchased the standard edition? Well, it's been delayed. Resident Evil 7: Not a Hero was supposed to come out around this time but the company decided to push it back until they can iron out some of the problems. It's unclear whether these problems are related to performance or the story. Either ways, they're going to keep working on it for a few more months it seems. Resident Evil 7's director Masachika Kawata said:
"We were working very hard to get the DLC ready in time for the Spring release, and we got close to completing the game content. Our aim is for this content is to match the high quality of the main game, so we need more development time in order to achieve that goal. However, in light of the incredible reception to the release of Resident Evil 7, we concluded that this DLC was not good enough to meet those high expectations. Rest assured we'll use this time to create something our fans love."
No time frame was provided as to when customers can expect this content to drop. Aside from Not a Hero, the Capcom team is working on addition add-ons which were hinted at during the interview. It's a shame that Not a Hero won't come out in the coming days but it's better to have engaging content rather than a mediocre product. Hopefully the team will be able to improve Not a Hero so it goes well with the critical-acclaim of the base game.
